Gavin McCoy - REVIEW
Cruise director Tommi kicked off the questions, which of course began with “How did you get started in show business?”
Mike then got onto his feet and began to unfold the whole nine yards.
He’s a master storyteller with a unique ability.
He told us about every poignant moment, showed us every graphic expression, let us hear every voice and nuance, graphic description, and happy and sad event in his early life in a small town in Wales.
He told us that he believed that the odds were stacked against him to ever make it under the spotlight.
However, he was not to be deterred.
He colourfully ran through every chapter, with hysterically funny impersonations of all of the key characters and crazy, wholly relatable observations of domestic and school life back when blackboards were the focal point of every classroom.
We laughed until we physically ached, and so did everyone else.
Now and again, he added an appropriate song to the mix.
What a superb voice, in addition to everything else.
It was after midnight when we left the theatre, and we would have willingly stayed for longer.
Cunard cruise ship audiences are truly blessed to be able to see this man.
Mike Doyle is a super multi-talented showman and a member of the incredible charitable and fraternal The Grand Order Of Water Rats.
I know this because I could see the little gold motif on his lapel.
A couple of days back, Ingy and I got a chance to meet Mike and say thanks for his previous performance, which we also loved!
He’s a hugely likeable person, who gains immediate rapport with his audience, and justly deserves the credit for being ‘best all-around entertainer’.
